What is Kowat Arlami?

Kowat-Alrami is an Arab martial art founded in 1980 by Dr. Walid Kassas, a physician in sports medicine from the Republic of Lebanon who has mastered many martial arts.

Just as martial arts such as judo, karate, kendo, and kung fu are deeply rooted in cultures like those of China and Japan, Kowat-Alrami was created as a reflection of Arab culture.

Kowat-Alrami, which is also part of Lebanon's identity, quickly gained popularity in the Middle East and parts of Asia after its founding and continues to spread worldwide, including Europe and Africa.

On December 12, 2025, Yuko Baba, Vice Chairman of the General Incorporated Association ICTSG JAPAN, was appointed as a member of the World Governing Committee and representative of the Japanese organization by the international Arabic martial arts organizations WFKA (World Kowat Alrami Federation) and WASDO (World Self-Defense Association).
